A young musician called David Macdonald had troubles remembering all of the number pi’s digits. Why he needed to remember them, is not our business to ask. But subsequently he decided that things cannot be left like that and composed a song for the number pi.

He turned each digit to a note of the A-minor scale and used it to play the piano. The video below shows his attempt.

After the first publishing, he has improved the video and even added sheet music to it.

With his left hand he is playing some harmonics in order to round out the melody a bit, and for the inner geek in all of us, he added a small section of pi facts on the side of the video, to keep going while he is playing.

Quite the brain game.

Check out his video here: even if you don’t like math, you’ll be sure to enjoy it and so will your friends.
