What was soon to become a legendary cellist was once a young boy too. Believe it or not Yo-Yo Ma had his first concert engagement at the brittle age of only 7 years. Talk about child prodigies.
Fragile little Yo-Yo Ma was introduced to the president John F. Kennedy by Leondar Benrstein, who delivered an idealistic address by laying his hopes in the then 7 year old Ma.
The young boy takes over the stage with his sister and they perform together, much to the amazement to the President and the rest of the audience, who are nothing less than stunned.
Check out the video below and be astonished by the incredible talent such a young mind can possess:
It’s not the last time Yo-Yo Ma and Bernstein come across each other of course. Three years later, when he was at the respectable age of 10, Ma wrote an adorable letter to him asking if he could come see him play with his sister again. We won’t reveal more, just would like to add that he used this sentence “Do you still remember me?” and say nothing more, because our hearts are melting!
